“Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right”
Hey there,
So, 2018 is well underway and let me tell you if your anything like me you’ve probably set some big goals for yourself. I got your back tho, I’m gonna fill you guys in on the secret… “put you up on game”- as the kids would say these days. Got Big plans and goals? Let me help you achieve them!
How have you started your new year? Did you make any resolutions? Too cool for that huh? Or maybe it’s just not your thing, Orrrr maybe you find that making resolutions are pointless because somehow, some way, you ALWAYS end up breaking them. One of the toughest fights we face in the new year is keeping up with our resolutions. I’m here to help you out with that. Here are 6 easy tips to follow daily to help you achieve your goals, whatever they may be. Wanna lose weight? easy. Wanna start a business? light work. Wanna start saving money? you got this. I believe in you and with these tips you can start to believe in yourself.
Believe you can, and you’ve already won… (Envision yourself as your goal)
You’d be surprised by how simple yet complex this one is. In one regard, it’s easy to say “yea I believe I can” but to ACTUALLY believe it is a completely different thing. Before you make any new resolutions, or carry out on ones you’ve already set for yourself, make sure that you believe that you can do it. A simple tip for those who struggle with this is to envision yourself as whatever it is you want to achieve. So, let’s say you want to lose 30lbs, Imagine yourself 30lbs thinner, imagine how good you would look in your swimsuit next year. Use it as a motivation tool! Once you start to envision yourself as your goal you’ll become more confident in yourself and really start believing “hey, I can do this! It’s possible!”
Appreciate the Journey…
Staying motivated to achieve your resolutions may be the hardest task of all. Sometimes when our goals don’t come to fruition as quickly as we would like, we lose our fight and just sort of give up after a while. What I found works for me is reminding myself of how far I’ve come which helps me to appreciate the journey. Another helpful tip is remembering why you started! Know that you have a reason for doing what you’re doing. Never lose sight of that it will help you persevere.
Rome wasn’t Built in a day… (Break larger goals into smaller goals)
A lot of the time we want to tackle our goals head on, just balls to the walls attack with full force! But sometimes we take on more than we can handle and end up getting overwhelmed. This is how a lot of folks just end up giving up. Breaking up your larger goals into smaller more doable parts can do wonders. Just think about it this way Rome wasn’t built in a day, we aren’t superheroes (well most of us anyway). Take your time, you’ll get there…Step by Step, Day by Day. (get the reference?)
Regroup, Rethink, reconfigure… (Be Realistic)
You know you better than anyone in this world. Don’t set goals that you know may be nearly impossible for you. If you look at it and get overwhelmed then it probably is overwhelming and you should regroup, rethink and reconfigure.
Don’t beat yourself up… (Slow down but don’t stop)
If you don’t actualize your goals as quickly as you wanted or you start to feel a lack of progression that’s ok! Burnout is a real thing and it applies to every aspect of our lives including sticking to our resolutions. The important thing to remember is that its ok to be tired, its ok to need more time, its ok to forgive yourself for not achieving what you set out to achieve. Sometimes we just need a break and that is OK. Be kind to yourself on this journey, slow down but don’t stop, you’ll get their eventually.
Remind Yourself of how Dope you are NOW…
You, yes you are amazing JUST THE WAY YOU AREEEE (get the reference?). Remind yourself before you start this new journey that your great, your awesome, your wonderful… just as you are now. Any improvements are just that. Remember not to take away from the undoubtedly tremendous human being that you are currently. Not saying that we are not without our flaws but even with, you still should remind yourself that you are fucking awesome!
